Step 01

The Challenge

CBCF needed a single, trusted technology partner who could operate across a genuinely wide surface area — day-to-day website and server reliability, a historical digital archive, data-driven visualizations for policy researchers, a conference-specific mobile app, and live technical production — while its own team stayed focused on programming the Annual Legislative Conference, one of the largest annual gatherings of Black political, business, and civic leadership in the country.

Leading up to ALC ’16, that need became urgent: CBCF had to drive registrations and ticket sales for an event culminating in an awards dinner featuring remarks from President Barack Obama and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton — with no room for a missed deadline or an underperforming campaign.

What CBCF Needed

  • A dependable technical partner for its core web presence
  • A home for its historical archive and policy research tools
  • Conference-specific digital tools that could scale for tens of thousands of attendees
  • Paid media that converted interest into ticket sales, fast

What We Manage

  • Day-to-day content & server/technical management for cbcfinc.org
  • Development & management of the Avoice digital library (avoice.cbcfinc.org)
  • Data visualization for the Center for Policy Analysis and Research, including the Executive Order Tracker
  • Development & content for CBCF’s Annual Legislative Conference mobile app
  • Technical production for the ALC Podcast Studio — A/V, guest coordination, live streaming, equipment
  • Programmatic advertising campaigns for ALC registration & ticket sales

Step 02

Framework Applied

MyMobileLyfe embedded as CBCF’s ongoing digital and technical team, taking day-to-day ownership of cbcfinc.org’s content and server management, developing and maintaining the Avoice digital library, and designing data visualization projects for CBCF’s Center for Policy Analysis and Research — including an Executive Order Tracker used to follow policy in real time.

For ALC, we built and managed the conference’s dedicated mobile app and served as technical producer for the Podcast Studio — capturing A/V, coordinating with guests, managing live streaming, and procuring equipment on-site. In the weeks before ALC ’16, we also built and ran programmatic advertising campaigns across five networks to sell registrations and event tickets.

Step 03

Outcomes

CBCF’s Executive Order Tracker has been viewed tens of thousands of times, becoming a go-to public resource built directly from the Center for Policy Analysis and Research’s work.

The ALC ’16 advertising campaigns helped CBCF meet its registration sales goals, and every ticketed event we promoted sold out — including the awards dinner where President Obama and Hillary Clinton addressed the room. Today, MyMobileLyfe remains CBCF’s continuous technology partner across web, data, mobile, and live production, year over year.

Outcomes at a Glance

  • Tens of thousands of views on the Executive Order Tracker
  • ALC ’16 registration sales goals met; ticketed events sold out
  • A conference mobile app and Podcast Studio production trusted every ALC cycle
  • One continuous technology partner spanning more than a decade

Spotlight: ALC ’16

Selling out a night with President Obama and Hillary Clinton

In the weeks leading up to ALC ’16, CBCF asked MyMobileLyfe to build and execute programmatic advertising campaigns across five networks to sell more ALC registration packages and individual event tickets.

We built campaigns on AdWords, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn to reach audiences by location and by their interest in ALC, politics, and issues facing the African American community — using bidding strategies designed to maximize engagement among the people most likely to attend. We also produced the creative: concise ad copy and eye-catching video slideshows.

The event culminated in an awards dinner featuring remarks from Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama — and every ticketed event we promoted sold out.

Alongside the ad campaigns, we managed the development and maintenance of the ALC ’16 mobile app and conference microsite, coordinating with departments across CBCF to make sure every desired function and creative asset made it into both. We’ve continued managing CBCF’s main website ever since, even as preparations for the next ALC get underway.
